Module 8 Unit 2 It’s a black cat. (Period 2) Teaching Plan
执教:市南区教育中心 鞠衍萍
I. Teaching Aims:
1. Students are able to guess with the new pattern “Is it a ….?” And give the corresponding response;
2. Students are able to understand the sentence “What’s in the box?” by enjoying a cartoon movie;
3. Students are able to say the chant clearly and fluently. They might create a new chant by materials given.
4. Students are willing to show their talent in chant-acting and they are ready to help each other in group study.
II. Teaching Aids:
Courseware, flash cards, tape
Extra reading material from Pioneer English Book 4
III. Board Design:
Module 8 Unit 2 It’s a black cat.
Is it (a) …? What’s in the box?
fox frog
friends
IV. Teaching Procedure:
1. Warm up: Song: 1,2,3,4,5
Free talk: What’s this? What color? Is it (a)…?
(Get the students involved. And review for the key structure.)
2. Lead in:
Activity: Guess for friendlies
(This activity is for guessing by colors. To make our class more active and fun, I choose the “Five Friendlies” and it can also help the students know more over English course study.)
Guess for pictures(activity on textbook P33)
(Drill with the key structure.)
3. Presentation:
a. Show the students the pic of the chant (a box with a tail in).
Motivate the students guess “What’s in the box?” and answer the question “Is it a frog?”
Study for the chant. Explain the meaning of “friend”.
Have the students say the chant in groups. Then act the chant out.
b. Give the students some hints for them to create a new chant. Then feed back by groups.
(Check if the students have grasped the chant and make learning challenging and fun!)
c. Prediction: Have the students guess “What’s in this bag? Is it a ball?”
Display a movie.
Check up the answer.
Then watch the movie again. Have the students find out what’s in the other two bags.
(Focus on the sentence pattern: What’s in this bag? / Is it a …? Help the students understand the sentence in situation.)
Then display the story for the 3rd time, have the students enjoy.
4. Homework assignment:
Play the guessing activity on page 33 with your daddy and mummy.
(This is a good parent-kid activity. students will be interested in judging their parents. )
V. Reflection:
This is the last class of this module. What I plan to do is to help the students study for the chant and play the game on page 33. And what’s more, I want the kids to study more over the textbook. So after the studying of the chant, the students are given a new passage for comprehension. I want to have a try on extra material reading for the students in the First Grade. But something I’m not quite sure is whether the quality of chant teaching is too high, and the extra passage is effective enough. We may all put these procedures into practice and check if they work or not.
