Teaching Aims:
By the end of the class, students will be able to
1. Write a goodbye speech to their primary school teachers and classmates;
2. Read aloud their own goodbye speech and record it;
3. Get to know what they will learn and do in their middle school;
4. Value their last few weeks’ time in primary school;
5. Know the usage of top sentence.
Teaching aids: courseware, colored paper

1. Lead in: Get to know the new teacher---
Free talk on habits.

Check out the answer and write down the key sentences on board
I’m very sad to say goodbye to you.
You’re going to leave your primary school soon and start your middle school this September.
2. Presentation
1) Lingling delivered a goodbye speech in her class. The first paragraph is like this.
Books open. Read the first paragraph together. Underline the sentence “I’m excited, and also sad.”
2) Find out the usage of top sentence.
Students read by themselves with the emotion of “excited” and “sad”.
Enlarge the second and third paragraph. Anything more to prove that you’re excited in middle school and the sadness of leaving your primary school.
3) Analysis the third paragraph.
Take notes: at the same time= also; going back to; happy for; ago(past form); only very little VS a lot more; keep on doing; sometime
4) Read the last paragraph and find out the other ways to keep in touch with each other.
3. Practise
1) Students try to write down their own goodbye speech. Motivate students to write more and words to their teachers and school.
Students write their goodbye speeches on the colored paper.
Students read aloud their speeches.
2) Vote for the best speeches.
